GSM Network Engineering

The Certification Program prepares the engineer to be able to engage in all aspects of a specific technology network build-out that typically starts with a general overview of the technology specifications, coupled with network design and dimensioning, or network overlay design in an evolving network, and progressing into detailed treatment of implementation issues as well as pre-launch network optimization.  This is then finalized with a module centered on post-launch network performance optimization, also known as performance engineering.

  • Pre-assessment: The pre-assessment test establishes the knowledge base of the student to enable his/her appropriate placement in the program.
  • Classroom Instructor-lead Hands-on Training: The course modules provide a flexible approach to the certification process, allowing each category of engineering personnel to attend relevant portions of the program. They are a combination of theory and practical tasks, and may include client best practices. There are exercises and assessments after every module completion.
  • Post-assessment: The post-assessment allows us to determine if a student has mastered the technology and will be able to successfully implement and/or operate the specific technology.

See Flow Chart:

5
Module - 5: Performance Engineering (.5 Day)
  • Techniques for network performance monitoring, customer complaint resolution through network troubleshooting, analysis and reccomendation implementation.

4
Module - 4: Network Optimization (.5 Day)
  • Optimization Process for network optimization are detailed and discussed in an interactive fashion.
  • Detail of necessary tools such as data collection and post processing/analysis platforms that are used to achieve target optimization metrics.

3
Module - 3: System Implementation (1 Day)
  • Addresses network overlay issues in an evolving network such as co-location of base-station infrastructures.
  • Provides effective site selection and interference mitigation techniques.

2
Module - 2: Network Dimensioning and Design (1 Day)
  • Relevant link related parameters for network dimensioning, i.e. RF propagation modeling, antenna selection and overlay restrictions.
  • Design exercise for senerios of coverage and capacity requirements as may be dictated by the client.

1
Module - 1: Technology Overview (2 Days)
  • Provides all aspects of the technology's standard that will ensure that the student has a proper knowledge base.
  • Prepares engineer to tackle the design/dimensioning and optimization aspects of the technology
